Below is the text from our confirmation email that will be sent to you. It includes directions, what to wear, what to bring (and what NOT to bring), etc. Please print this out and bring it with you.

Greetings from Mighty Mo Canoe Rental!

We are pleased to accept your reservation. We will depart at 1 p.m. sharp from the Katy Trail Bed & Bikefest, located at 101 Lewis Street in Rocheport, Missouri 65279 (see directions here). You may park in our parking area, or on the shoulder of the road.

Please arrive no later than 12:45 a.m.

Plan to bring sunscreen, sunhat, sunglasses, and something to drink (like water or Gatorade) and snacks. Conditions at times can be very hot.

Please be sure to wear shoes that can get a little muddy or wet. River sandals and old tennis shoes work well. Crocks, flip-flops, and backless sandals are not appropriate.

We may be stopping to splash around a bit at one of the sandbars so it would be a good idea to wear your swim suit or shorts that can get wet.

The float can be rigorous (if there's a headwind) and somewhat removed from immediate medical assistance, please advise us and plan accordingly.

Participants should be in fairly good physical condition, and should be able to support their own body weight when getting in and out of canoes. Participants should also be able to walk up steep, rocky embankments getting to and from the river.

If participants are over 250 pounds, please let us know in advance.

If you are a diabetic or have any medical conditions that may need to be addressed in the course of this 4-5 hour float trip please bring medications or snacks as needed.

Please plan to leave all cell phones, watches, jewelry, electronic gear and valuables at home or in your car. If you bring a camera, consider bringing a disposable waterproof camera. We recommend you bring a dry bag or sealed waterproof container to keep items dry.

We depart at 1 p.m. to allow you time to eat lunch in Rocheport at one of the various restaurants that offer everything from hamburgers & fries (Trailside Cafe located at the Katy Trail Trailhead), or more upscale items at Abigail's Restaurant. Please see www.rocheport.com for a complete listing.

We generally shuttle people back to Rocheport after our float. However, you can also choose to bike back to Rocheport (45 minute easy flat ride) on the Katy Trail. It is a real pretty stretch of trail. If you would like for us to shuttle your bikes down to the end of the float, please drop your bikes off at the Katy Trail Bed & Bikefest at 101 Lewis Street, Rocheport, MO 65279, no later than 10 a.m. Also, if you would be kind enough to reply to this email that you're biking back that would streamline our planning. (If you want to bike back but can't be here by 10 a.m. please email us so that we can work something out...)

If you need to rent a bike, please call Trailside Cafe & Bike Rental at (573) 698-2702.

Some general rules of thumb regarding weather cancellations: if there is a 50% or greater chance of thunderstorms IN ROCHEPORT (ZIP 65279), after 1 p.m., we will cancel our float. Don't check KC or St. Louis weather - CHECK Rocheport's weather - since it will be different.

Also - if the river is above 18 feet on the local Boonville gauge, we may cancel the float. You can watch the river level fluctuate in real-time at http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=eax&gage=bozm7. Please note that the river level updates throughout the week - and I typically don't cancel a float until about 2 days before the float, since the forecasts here fluctuate wildly daily.

If you are planning an overnight stay in Rocheport, please visit www.katytrailbb.com. The Katy Trail Bed & Bikefest is a cozy 1880s historic house located right on the Katy Trail!
